WINA and the DP both have fairly extensive reports – of note is that the federal regulatory agencies told Rivanna that they don’t HAVE to come up with a plan that covers the next 50 years. Wish they had mentioned that 5 years ago. Planning for the distant future is not an altogether bad idea, though. Not planning adequately for the future is something that has defined our region for some time. Shockingly, the local officials say they want to meet again with regulators before selecting a preferred option or combination of options.

Rich Collins’ run for Delegate
Your water gets more polluted, your traffic becomes more congested, your schools become crowded, your police force is pressed—and your tax assessments go up…. Maybe you thought government was being foolish with expenditures, and you couldn’t understand what they were doing with all this money…. For newcomers, it would be like a price for admission to a community in which there has been a great investment into water, sewer, schools and an attractive community…. How exactly would Mr. Collins “shift the tax†with it not negatively impacting all property owners in this region?
Let’s go to Culpeper!
The Commonwealth Transportation Board will hold a public hearing involving its draft 6-year plan for rail, mass transit, bicycle, pedestrian, and state highway projects. The agency wants to hear about projects through the 2011 budget cycle. The public hearing will be held at 5 p.m. at the Highway Department’s Culpeper District auditorium…. Planning for only six years seems shortsighted.
If only we had a large body of water
Pushed off land by soaring housing prices, Clay is one of a growing number of Washington area residents making their homes on barges and schooners from the District’s Southwest waterfront to Chesapeake Bay inlets in Southern Maryland, marina managers say. Our region is running out of land … some of those in the D.C. area have more options. Story here.
What does your iPod say about you?
And that is where the iPod goes beyond cool and into profound. It’s a less accurate — but more interesting — tool for psychological analysis — a Myers-Briggs for the digital age. My iPod has a wide variety of music, across many genres. Maybe I should check out potential clients’ iPods before we work together – and vice-versa!
Assistant needed!!
Preferably already a licensed REALTOR, but not necessary. Must have excellent technical skills, experience with Microsoft Publisher, web data entry…. Would love to have somebody with some FTP-uploading experience, but this is certainly not required; if you don’t know what FTP is, don’t worry about it. Desire and commitment to do things right the first time is an absolute imperative.
