I love when people discover Charlottesville’s own Bodo’s Bagels.
Simple. To the point. Revolutionary. All of the bagels are authentic New York Water Bagels and they come in every type you could imagine. Not to mention they brew fresh ground organic coffee and sell t-shirts for $5.
From the looks of it, this is the place Einstein Bagels wishes they could be. There’s only one thing on the menu: bagels….and you can have it any way you want for a very reasonable price
…
The bagel was….unbelievable. It tasted the way you always want your bagel to taste: fresh, moist yet hard and just the right flavor. No wonder people line up outside for this.
More at Yelp, and see Bodo’s for yourself.
I really like the bagels, but I love the coffee. BoJoe is the best in town.
Jim thanks for the link back to my site and let me just say this again, Bodo’s is one of the most amazing restaurants I have been to. The White Spot is equally impressive.
My wife and I were in C-ville a couple weeks ago for the DMB concert and have never had a better time. It’s a wonderful, beautiful city….with some killer restaurants.
Mark – Amen.
Dan – thanks for writing the review. Having been in Charlottesville for 20+ years, I think I often take them for granted.
One of my funniest stories about Bodo’s is when I got to the one on Emmet Street and the line was naturally out the door. A woman walked up behind me in a huff to stand in line, talking loudly on her cell phone. She was complaining about how she had “just come from the one on Preston and the line there was out the door too!”
Guess she didn’t know that she could have stood in line, gotten her sandwich and started to eat it in the time it took her to drive from one to the other. 🙂
One day I’d bemoaned the use of all that plastic for my Caesar salad and the cashier pointed out that apparently Bodo’s salad containers are made of biodegradable corn plastic. Wow. What other businesses do that sort of thing?
