IDX. Internet Data Exchange. For those not actively involved in real estate, that means (pretty much) “showing homes for sale on a broker website.”
Now, I recommend searching for homes in Charlottesville at the Nest Realty site. I could be convinced to keep the search here on this blog if enough folks ask.
Years ago, having a “search for homes” feature on a site was a differentiator. I found what I believed (and still believe) to be the best out there, Diverse Solutions, and installed it here. That was in November 2008.
A lot’s changed since 2008: Zillow to name one (they bought Diverse Solutions) and we started Nest Realty and we’ve won awards for our home search features (and we’re just getting better!)
Short story: having “search for homes” here is no longer that useful. Or cool. Or, from my perspective, profitable. I know I’ve broken links here, and I know there are unintended consequences. Such is life.
Onward.
Jim, I used the search on this blog quite frequently. Is the alternative to use Nest search sevices?
Correct. Nest has full access to the MLS feed (unlike Zillow) and will have the same accuracy as my site.
I could no longer justify the annual expense to provide the search here …
I understand that. Thanks for letting us know.
Right on Jim!
