– have a home I am contacted by buyers all the time who are interested in buying homes in the Charlottesville area – many are affiliated with UVA, others are professionals who are likely to remain in the area for several years, still more are in the position of downtownenvy – Personally, we want a 4 bedroom downtown with a yard because we have a large and possibly growing family. We want a house this size because we plan on living in it for at least the next 30 years, and don’t feel like doing a small starter home for 5-10 years, and then purchasing a “move up†home.

Albemarle County’s “County View”
(Bolding mine) Albemarle County community development staff will be demonstrating County View Web to interested members of the development and real estate communities on Wednesday, January 27, at 10:00 am in Room 241 of the County Office Building on McIntire Road. … Would that we could export this stuff to Google and do overlays … or even better, to my IDX search page , because I doubt our MLS would be able to integrate something like this (and yes, that’s a challenge where I’d love to be proven wrong).

I’ve mentioned Barbara Corcoran before – July of 2007 , where she discussed “kiddie condos” and in 2005 when she declared there was “no bubble” … one thing with which I do agree is this from 2005 –
…But the fact of the matter is, as long as a local broker can make a big brand in a local market, national and everything else doesn’t matter.

Interesting New Virginia Environmental Blog
To the end that the people have clean air, pure water, and the use and enjoyment for recreation of adequate public lands, waters, and other natural resources, it shall be the policy of the Commonwealth to conserve, develop, and utilize its natural resources, its public lands, and its historical sites and buildings. Further, it shall be the Commonwealth’s policy to protect its atmosphere, lands, and waters from pollution, impairment, or destruction, for the benefit, enjoyment, and general welfare of the people of the Commonwealth.
Waldo got Subpoenaed
Waldo Jaquith of Cvillenews has been subpoenaed for names, email addresses, IP addresses, etc . … I debated putting this on the sideblog , but feel that this sort of thing deserves front page coverage, if only to express empathetic irritation on Waldo’s behalf as well as the fact that he has to spend valuable time and money on this.
