Bike Paths Increase Property Values?
Proximity to transit may increase property values . (From 2005 ) Walkability increases property values and livability . And now, studies have shown that real estate property values increase with proximity to bicycle paths. People enjoy living close to bike paths and are willing to pay more for an otherwise comparable house to be closer to one . (h/t BHG ) In short, proximity to functional, viable, affordable, multi-modal infrastructure increases property values.

After decades of debate, bajillions of dollars, and countless studies and polls and endless ill will between the City of Charlottesville and the County of Albemarle, not to mention residents of both, the Meadowcreek Parkway is finally going to open! For six weeks. Drive on it while you can.

Sounds good, but home-building lobbies from Texas to Georgia have defied what they call an impractical, expensive mandate, convincing legislators to pass bills overriding the requirement. … The fire survival rate in homes with working smoke detectors is 99.41 percent, according to the NFPA.
