If making up a story and lying to the police doesn’t’ constitute an honor violation, what does?

“Thinking is Subversive”
I highly encourage everyone to read this article, watch the video and question everything.
Off Topic, but Not Really – Or: Thanks, Daily Show
Take a few minutes and watch Jon Stewart skewer TARP and then the bill (S.1867 – National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012) that will allow for indefinite detention of Americans. How very unAmerican.
Veteran’s Day 2011
To all veterans and their families: thank you, from me and from my family. But don’t stop today. Thank them whenever you can. What they and their families have sacrificed for us is immeasurable. Thank…
The Festy Experience 2011 at Devil’s Backbone Brewery
Devil’s Backbone Brewery hosted the 2nd Annual Festy Experience last weekend, and I was hugely impressed, not only because it was perfect weather, great camping, phenomenal music, great food and beer and clean grounds … I also was lucky to hear from friends who had driven for several hours to attend. They were unanimous in their agreement that those of us who live here are privileged to live in such proximity to such a wonderful festival.
The Festy is extraordinarily kid-friendly and offers plenty of opportunities for a not-so-kid friendly experience; next year I’ll probably take my little one.
Sometimes it takes “tourists” to remind us that we live in a pretty awesome place.
What Spiders are in Charlottesville?
Thanks to the UVA Health System Blog for today’s story on spiders in Charlottesville. This is actually one of the more common questions my clients ask me – what kinds of spiders are here? Which ones are poisonous? I used to tell folks to watch out for black widows and brown recluses, but it turns out the black widow are much more populous than brown recluses.
My house is Getting an Energy Makeover
Thanks to LEAP, my house will be getting an energy makeover. I’ve written about green homes and energy efficiency for years, and now I’ll be benefitting from it first hand.
And I’m a bit excited.
I expect I’ll be writing about this quite a bit over the next few weeks and months, but here’s one thing I’ll note now:
I don’t think I’ll publicly disclose the builder of my home. It’s easy to find out, and I’ll tell you in person, and if you’re a client, I’ll give you the full run-down.
The reason we bought where we did was not for the house; it was for the location. We walk and ride bikes to the park, the pool, the soccer field, coffee shop(s), the library, and ride bikes to all of the above including my daughter’s elementary school.
Now, if we can save money through energy efficiency and I will learn more to help my clients, that’s a win all the way around.
Press release is after the jump.
